Teaching English & Making Jesus Known
Oak Pointe is a multi-ethnic church community with a growing number of people from countries outside the United States. We love having a diverse church and we’re committed to helping our international friends become growing disciples of Jesus.
The Bible tells us to “declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all people (Psalm 96:3).” We accept this call with joy by offering bible studies and ESL classes throughout the week. You can help share the Gospel or teach practical English and American culture and customs in a friendly group setting.
Conversation Class Small Group Leader
Tuesday evenings (weekly or bi-weekly) or Friday mornings (2nd & 4th Fridays)
Lead a small group of international students of varying conversation levels. Teach practical English vocabulary, idioms, culture, and useful information to help them acclimate themselves in this foreign land. Foreign language skill/experience is a plus but not required. Materials are provided.
Bible Study Small Group Leader
Tuesday evenings (weekly or bi-weekly) or Friday mornings (1st, 3rd & 5th Fridays)
Most of our ESL students are not Christians, so we have an incredible opportunity to share Jesus with them through bible study. Foreign language skill/experience is a plus but not required.
Hospitality Team
Coordinate snacks for our regular Friday classes and special events.
Administrative Support
Assist the ministry leader with preparation for classes by making copies, making signs, and doing data entry. We also need translators (English into Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, or Japanese). The schedule is flexible and some work can be done from home.
Childcare
Tuesday evenings or Friday mornings (especially on 2nd and 4th Friday mornings).
Many of our ESL students have small children who need care during our programs. Providing a loving and safe place for their kids helps build trust that opens up opportunities to share the gospel.
