Proverbs 13:4

Bible Reading

A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

– Proverbs 13:4

Devotion

The wise worker is diligent. I’m reminded of James’ words to the Church about being steadfast, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2-4 ESV). May we be the kind of people who are hungry for the Lord and willing to wait for Him. May we be steadfast and diligent knowing that perseverance produces satisfaction, perfection, and completeness in Christ.

The Big Question

How is God calling you to be steadfast today? How can God use the trials you are facing to make you mature and complete?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence reflecting on what you have learned.
