Devotion
Have you ever gotten to a transition in life and wondered if God really had a plan for you? The answer is yes. God was and is fully present in your life. The verses from Jeremiah and the Psalms are extremely comforting. In every phase of life God is present.
Transitions in life can come at any time. Often they are expected but many times they are a big surprise. While many think ahead to retire someday, some are forced into it. What about a divorce, death in the family or unexpected crisis in life?
There are good transitions and bad ones. From fast moving storms that can leave debris in life to celebratory changes that you expect, there are ways you can deal with all life has to offer.
You can pray for discernment, wisdom and a release from your old ways. God does not want you to keep looking over your shoulder, living in slavery. He wants to find a place in your heart. Often God will give you direction, maybe a healthy vision of where to go next. But you have to be patient. Aligning with God’s desire may take a long time. You need to be patient to see what God’s desire is for you.
God may use people and circumstances to correct your ways and take the rough edges off. God will have His way in your life and it may take time.
As you wait, it may be helpful to find friends who can surround you with love and encouragement. If you’re like me, you need others to go on the journey with you, to pray with you and to wait with you. God’s promise is to hear your cries and to answer. Be patient.
The Big Question
It may take longer than you like to hear from God. How can you find the patience to wait for His still voice in your life? How can you pray?
Conclude in prayer and silence reflecting on what you’ve learned.
