Matthew 13:31-34

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.” He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough.” Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; He did not say anything to them without using a parable.

Devotion

Above is the first set of twin parables that both focus on the surprising growth and influence of the kingdom of heaven. Jesus said the kingdom of God would start off very small, but grow into a movement so big that people from all over the world would find their refuge and security in it. Jesus was saying that the kingdom of God would grow to amazing proportions and would influence the entire world. As disciples of Jesus, it is our ministry to continue spreading the message of Jesus in our own spheres of influence. One of Oak Pointe’s marks of a growing disciple is “go”. It is a privilege to be part of the greatest message and greatest movement that the world will ever see!

The Big Question

Has any other movement had such a wide-reaching influence in the lives of people or in the life of the world? Who’s in your top 3? (Your list of people you are praying for and going to with the message of Jesus) Are you a good steward of the influence that God has given you in this world?

Conclude your time in prayer and silence, reflecting on what God revealed to you today.
