2 Chronicles 31:20-21

Spend time in prayer and silence with God asking Him to meet with you and speak to you.

Bible Reading

This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the Lord His God. In everything that he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.

Devotion

In the first month of his first year, Hezekiah began cleansing and reopening the house of the Lord and re-instituting the worship of YAHWEH. He knew the previous generation had sinned against the Lord and were experiencing hardship as a result. Once he reconstructed the temple, he had a massive service rededicating the temple to the service of the Lord. Hezekiah made sure that this reform was not a short-lived event; but the ongoing worship of YAHWEH was well supported. These reforms would not have been popular throughout Judah, but Hezekiah knew that the nation had no hope without the spiritual reforms that would bring the nation back to God.

The Big Question

Hezekiah rejected the past and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He broke the generational curse and lead his nation into a time of spiritual revival. What generational curses are holding you back? Are you willing to do whatever is necessary for you to experience a spiritual revival in your life? Are you willing to do the hard work necessary to bring about long-term spiritual health in your life, your family, and in your world?

Spend some time in prayer meditating on what God revealed to you today.
