Devotion

After Elijah’s mountaintop victory came his valley of despair. Jezebel was not happy that Yahweh proved Himself to be the one true God. She was determined that God’s spokesman, Elijah, would pay the ultimate price for God’s victory. It so often happens like this in life: One minute we are on top of the world; the next minute we are in a valley of discouragement. Elijah ran roughly 125 miles to escape the wrath of Jezebel. He sat down and prayed that God would let him die.

The Big Question

We have all had times where we felt like Elijah. Elijah allowed his fears to cause him to run away from this conflict with Jezebel. We often allow fear to control our decision making process. Instead of turning to God in faith, we run away from our fears. What fears are you facing today? Are you leaning into God?, or are you running from your fears?

Spend some time in prayer meditating on what God revealed to you today.
